Pop culture these days

More and more i see people my age and younger becoming more and more blinded by the evil music empire that is "pop" music. Pop music these days is not what it once was, it use to be a word to describe songs that made it on to the charts because they were written and performed by truly talented people who put a meaning behind it. Now, its a word that describes music that has been made to copy whatever is the flavor of the week, its a shame what giant record companies are doing to music. A great example of the bullshit that they pull, look how popular punk music was from 1994 to 2003. When bands like Green Day and Offspring made it big, all of a sudden there were tons of copycat bands like Sum 41, Simple plan, Blink 182, Gob, All American Rejects, Fall out Boy, Yellowcard, Panic at the disco and Hedly just to name a few. Not only did they create all these shitty copy bands (who could make there own creative sound if there life depended on it) it also changed the way bands like Green Day and the Offspring made music, they went from being ground breaking, creative artists who had meanings to there songs to becoming what the record companies want them to be and completly loosing there creative edge. And a lot of people buy into the shit that they put out because its catchy and they can shake there ass to it. But is it worth it? Before people like Elvis, the Beatles, Elton John, were putting out songs that you could dance to and that were still catchy, but they had lyrical and musical depth to them. People have to stop buying into the bullshit and find the good music that is still out there, you just have to look. If you want to see what the future holds for hard rock, look at Nickelback and Theory of a Deadman. Try to actually listen to the lyrics and you will see what i am talking about... Open your eyes for yourself dont buy into the bullshit, go on myspace and find someones band who a lot of people haven't heard of and truely listen, you will hear musicians that have yet to be tainted be the fucking assholes in the major label companies....... Keep metal and music alive..
